Fine Art Prints & Custom Books

Iceland

With over one thousand of his photographic portraits in the permanent collection of New York’s first museum, AJ Stetson is recognized for his ability to capture powerful, luminous images that honor his subjects with depth and dignity.

On this extraordinary journey through the Icelandic Highlands, AJ Stetson will call on his experience as a portrait artist on six continents, with a deep love for this most exquisite land and its light.

A Note on Process

AJ’s work is rooted in respect. All portraits are made only with the subject’s enthusiastic consent, and he will not interfere with the flow of Hekluhestar’s world-class guidance and leadership. If no moment arises to create something meaningful during the ride, no image will be offered.

Two exclusive offerings are available to commemorate your experience:

  • Fine Art Portraits
A museum-quality archival portrait print of you, available in a range of large-format sizes.

  • Custom Hardcover Books
A handcrafted, hardcover book curated by AJ from his images of your journey—featuring you, the horses you ride, and the breathtaking terrain you traverse. These layflat books can be opened and presented at any page as fine art works.

Fine Art Portrait Print

Captured amidst the majestic, glorious terrain of Iceland by the New York City-based photographer AJ Stetson, this museum-quality, archival fine art print will evoke your time in the otherworldly beauty of the Icelandic Highlands.

If an opportunity arises over the course of your Icelandic adventure to make a distinctive portrait of you on or with one or more of the horses you’ll be riding, AJ will show and offer this to you.

The editing and printing process, which includes a video call with AJ, will be finished in New York City, and may take place up to several months after the trip.

The artist’s fee is $500. USD, and the balance will be determined by the size of the museum-quality, archival print, and the shipping address. To create a 16”x20” museum-quality archival print, and ship it in a hard tube to a European address will typically cost $300 in addition to the artist’s fee.

Custom Hardcover Book

AJ will curate and design a hardcover, layflat book of his images of your journey—featuring you, the horses you ride, and the breathtaking terrain you traverse. These layflat books can be opened and presented at any page as fine art works.

The editing process, which includes at least one video call with AJ to discuss the book’s images, page count, and binding, will be finished in New York City, and may take place up to several months after the trip.

The artist’s fee is $1,000. USD, and the balance will be determined by the dimensions of the book, the number of pages you choose, and your shipping address. To create a 7”x7”, 20-page book and ship it to a European address will typically cost $400 in addition to the artist’s fee.

Note that images on digital screens are not identical to printed manifestations, and that there are variations in brightness, saturation, and contrast.

A 50% deposit of the artist’s fee is required to commence work on the print(s) or book(s). The balance is due upon shipment of the artwork.

The unique, customized nature of this process means there are no returns, but if the artwork is damaged in shipping, AJ will ensure you receive an undamaged work.
